Specs:
XP Pro SP2
HP dc7900 ultra-slim desktop
ViewSonic va926 19″ LCD
1024×768 resolution, 75 Hertz refresh rate … user’s current setting
Graphics driver 6.14.10.4977

Troubelshooting:
In theory, should be able to change resolution and/or refresh rate setting to something lower or higher to resolve, but I didn’t test that.  Wanted to see if upgrading the graphics driver would resolve, without needing to adjust the current setting.  What’s strange though, what setting is automatically being set that would cause the “out of range”?  You would think it would return to using the current setting.  Or, if it is using the current setting, why isn’t it taking after the remote desktop activity.

Went to HP website for latest graphics driver 6.14.10.5179 -> Link
Installed, but was later informed not compatible with OS, even though website says it’s for XP Pro.

Used version 6.14.10.5016 from our software storage.

Resolution:
Upgraded graphics driver to 6.14.10.5016.  Tested by setting graphics to 1024×768 75 Hertz and 1280×1024 60 Hertz and remote desktoping in, console no longer show “out of range”.
